Nima Mistry is an aspiring Kathak dancer with over 15 years of training in the Kalka-Bindadin Gharana under her foundational Guru Smt. Shiva Mathur of Shivangini Academy of Arts in Houston, TX.
As a passionate student of Kathak, Nima considers ghungroos a sacred and essential part of the art form. She noticed that high-quality ghungroos were difficult to obtain in the United States. While there were many sources selling them, the bells and strings often fell apart quickly. Nima began checking multiple sources to ensure that both the bells and strings she used were of the best quality. With the blessing of her guru, she established Kathak Bells Handmade Creations in July 2020, crafting ghungroos by hand for Kathak dancers across the U.S. and Canada.
Since then, Kathak Bells has grown significantly and received high volumes of orders. In recognition of her entrepreneurial efforts, Nima was honored with the DISHA USA Young Achiever’s Award in Entrepreneurship in October 2025, where her business was also formally recognized. Additionally, Nima found herself wanting to create more ghungroo options for dancers beyond Kathak, as well as costumes, jewelry, and other hair accessories. As of November 2025, her company now identifies as Nritya Accessories, with the goal of providing access to high-quality ghungroos, costumes, jewelry, and accessories for all Indian classical dancers in the U.S. and Canada.
